Director Qualifications
The qualifications to be a Director of a Fire Protection District:
- Must be a US citizen
- Reside in Missouri & District 1 year before election or appointment
- Must no be federally employed if in a Missouri “office of profit”
- Cannot be convited of or plead guilty to a federal felony or misdemeanor, a Missouri felony, or an offense in another state that is considered a felony in Missouri
- Must have paid his or her taxes (candidates must file a copy of an affidavit of tax payments)
- Must have paid any fees assessed by the Missouri Ethics Commission
- May not be employed by an ambulance or fire protection district
- Must be at least 24 years old
- Must pay a $100 filing fee to the District
- Must take and file an oath or affirmation of office with the County Circuit Court Clerk's Office
- Must file a surety bond with the County Circuit Court Clerk's Office
