Generators Needed!
When the power goes off at one of the TIghtwad Fire Protection District's fire stations, the District loses the use its handheld and mobile radios to respond to emergencies.
That’s right, during severe weather, when the District may be needed the most, the District will be in the dark and unable to communicate with the Henry County Emergency 9-1-1 Center to request additional aid such as ambulances and mutual aid from surrounding communities.
Generators are expensive to purchase and integrate with a fire station's electrical system. Both fire stations require approximately 24 kilowatts (kw) of generated electricity, especially the fire station in Coal, which is heated by electricity and not propane or natural gas.
Please consider a donation for part of a generator, one generator, or both generators. Altogther a 24kw generator costs around $11,000 with installation and integration into a fire station's electrical system. Donors of an entire generator will have their name put on the generator purchased with their donation.
